Mission:

Our mission is to accompany the underserved and catalyze action in Creighton physicians in training through Jesuit values and the pillars of Project CURA:

Cultural Immersion: To immerse ourselves in a community with values and ideas different from those we are accustomed to, and to provide the utmost respect of those we serve.

Simple Living: To become aware of the choices that the poor are forced to make as we as students consciously journey with them.

Service and Community: To live together as members of the community and to embody Cura Personalis to those we encounter.

Vision:

Project CURA is a Creighton medical student-run organization that strives to provide health education and primary prevention to the underserved and minority populations within the greater Omaha area and abroad. We seek to broaden our understanding of global realities and health disparities, inspire personal growth and reflection in students, and create avenues for deep and meaningful service-learning opportunities. We strive to implement several of the Creighton Jesuit core values, including:

Magis: Meaning “more.” This is the challenge to strive for excellence.

Cura Personalis: Sharing gifts, pursuing justice, and having concern for the poor and marginalized.

Men and Women for Others: “Care for the individual person.” Respecting each person as a child of God and all of God’s creations.

Unity of Heart, Mind, & Soul: Developing the whole person and integrating all aspects of our lives

Through fostering partnerships and relationships with host communities and utilizing preliminary medical skills, we gain valuable insight into global health care that will impact our approach to patient care as future Creighton physicians.
